What areas do you service?
+
We proudly serve the Greater Grand Rapids area, which includes: Grand Rapids, East Grand Rapids, Grandville, Wyoming, Jenison, Hudsonville, Allendale, Byron Center, Cutlerville, Kentwood, Ada, Cascade, Forest Hills, Comstock Park — now accepting requests for Caledonia and Lowell.
How often can you clean my yard?
+
Our Weekly service is our most popular option, keeping your yard consistently clean and fresh all year long. We offer 2x per Week (area-specific), Weekly, Biweekly, Monthly, and One-Time cleanups, along with Sanitizing/Deodorizing treatments that help eliminate odors and keep your outdoor space fresh.
Do I need to be home during service?
+
No — as long as we have access to your yard, you do not need to be home. We send email reminders, text reminders, and an “on our way” message when we’re 10–30 minutes out.
What happens on the first visit?
+
We walk the yard thoroughly, scoop all pet waste, and, if applicable, perform your Sanitizing/Deodorizing treatment. To see current promotions, visit our Specials page.
We pre-bill on the 1st of each month, and your first invoice is prorated based on your start date. Payment is kindly requested on the day of your first service, and it includes the remainder of your first month for recurring service.
What if the weather is bad?
+
We scoop in most weather conditions. If it’s unsafe (lightning, severe storms, heavy snow), we’ll reschedule to the next available day. In rare cases where we cannot reschedule, we will resume service on your next scheduled visit and account for “double doody.”
Do you work through the winter?
+
Yes — we scoop all winter long. Michigan snow melts in stages throughout the season, and sometimes piles hidden under fresh snowfall become visible the following week. Regular weekly scooping ensures those newly uncovered piles are picked up promptly, helping you stay ahead of the mess and avoid the dreaded Spring Swamp altogether.
Additionally, dogs leave trails and patterns leading to their favorite “go spots.” Once we’ve become familiar with your property, even on heavy snow days we know exactly where your dog prefers to go, and we focus on those high-traffic areas during deep snow.
What if my gate is locked or my dog is outside?
+
If we cannot access your yard or if your dog is outside and not friendly toward strangers, we will reach out to reschedule. We typically come back later the same day or the following day when possible. While we cannot issue credits for access issues, we always try our best to return.
Do you sanitize your equipment between stops?
+
Yes — all tools, equipment, and shoes are cleaned with a kennel-grade disinfectant between each visit to prevent cross-contamination.
What do you do with the waste after you scoop it?
+
All waste is double-bagged and disposed of according to local ordinances. We typically haul the waste away with us after each service. However, if we have arrangements with the dog owner to use their trash bin, the waste is double or triple bagged, depending on the situation, before being placed in the receptacle to ensure cleanliness and odor control.
How do you handle yards with lots of leaves, tall grass, or debris?
+
We’ll go through your yard just like any other, doing our best to locate dog waste even in the most difficult terrain. We may use a leaf blower when reasonable to improve visibility, but a full leaf removal is not the objective. Please note that it is possible to miss piles when we cannot visibly see them due to heavy leaves, tall grass, or debris. We always make multiple passes through your dog’s usual potty areas to get as much as we can each visit.
Can you work around my lawn crew or contractors?
+
Funny how this works: lawn care companies don’t want to run over dog poop and get it on their tires — and professional pooper scoopers prefer the grass cut so we can actually find the dog waste! 😅
Generally, it’s not a big issue. Many lawn care companies will still mow even if there’s a little poop in the yard, and contrary to popular belief, most of it doesn’t get sucked into the mower and sprayed everywhere. It’s still there — we just might have a few “pancake turds” to pick up afterward, but it’s the same amount either way.
We’ll always try to coordinate with your lawn crew if their schedule naturally lines up with your assigned scoop day. That said, because we need to keep our routes efficient, we can’t make major timing adjustments to scoop before lawn services. It can be hit or miss depending on timing, but if you let us know ahead of time, we’ll do our best when it fits the route.
What if my dog is protective or nervous around strangers?
+
If your dog is territorial or anxious, we ask that they remain inside during service for everyone’s safety. If we cannot safely enter, we’ll reach out to reschedule.
Do you clean up after other animals too?
+
Our service focuses on dogs, but if you have a special request, we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Can I request a one-time cleanup before starting recurring service?
+
Absolutely — many customers start with a one-time deep clean, especially after winter or long periods without service.
Do you offer gift cards?
+
Yes — we offer digital gift cards for any amount. They’re great for new pet owners, busy families, elderly pet owners, or as thoughtful holiday and special-occasion gifts.
Why should I choose Dog Doody Patrol?
+
Dog Doody Patrol is a locally owned small business that takes pride in going above and beyond for every client. We don’t just scoop — we look for ways to make your life easier. When needed, we use a leaf blower to clear heavy leaves so we can find and remove all dog waste thoroughly. If we notice your trash receptacles are empty and still out by the road, we’ll bring them in as a courtesy — because little things matter, and we pay attention.
We’re known for excellent communication, reliable service, and consistent results all year long. You’ll receive email reminders, text reminders, an “on our way” text, and a locked gate photo confirmation when service is complete. We also disinfect all tools, equipment, and shoes between stops to prevent cross-contamination.
With top-tier service and true local care, we’re the #1 choice for your dog’s #2 — and we stand behind it.
